I recently had a scary emergency and they were on the scene within hours to help figure out the issue and fix it. They focused on troubleshooting and determining the root cause, ensuring that what they did to fix the problem actually worked and taking the extra time to verify (which was needed in our case). Even talked me through additional possibilities as we consider some changes in the future.

My furnace shut off during a cold weekend a few weeks ago, and I called Zephyr, among other HVAC companies, in a panic. Jesse picked up, and I quickly learned that they did not service fuel oil furnaces like ours. However, he still walked me through some basic diagnostics that helped immensely, for no compensation. I cannot overstate how amazing this was, to reach someone who was willing to interrupt his time with his family to give advice to a stranger. Jesse came out to perform a load calculation on my finished attic that is not staying as cool as the rest of the house. From the first minute, it seemed as though Jesse was a trusted friend who was advising me instead of trying to sell me something. Responsive, friendly and helpful. When my AC quit working, I called Jesse at 6pm on a Friday. He called me back that evening and suggested some quick fixes that might take care of it.
Unfortunately there turned out to be bigger problems with my AC system, so on Saturday he diagnosed the problem, determined there was a refrigerant leak, and refilled and sealed the leak.
Jesse was prompt, professional, and explained everything to my wife as I was out of town for work. After having less than satisfying experiences with two larger companies in town, I am very happy to have found a good HVAC service company in Zephyr Environmental Solutions.

I had a recurring problem with an HVAC system at my short-term rental. The system was less than 5 years old, and the other HVAC companies I sent to troubleshoot the issue were never able to figure out the root cause, yet charged me exorbitant fees each visit. I paid over $3,000 to send other HVAC companies to the property 4 times within a 4 month span, and they never found or fixed the root issue, it just kept failing each time. I had to cancel bookings as result, a total money pit. I called Zephyr and spoke to Jesse, the owner. He sent one of his personally trained technicians who found the root issue and repaired the problem on the first visit. In a market where an owner/founder led HVAC business is becoming increasingly rare, I can't recommend Zephyr Environmental Solutions enough.

Jesse and his crew installed a new HVAC system for us 3 years ago. We had a 10 year old system that was really noisy in the winter, and was vented inefficiently throughout the house. Switching to Zephyr Environmental Systems from a larger chain of HVAC installers was the right decision - our new unit makes much less noise, has better air flow throughout both floors of the house, and gave us a slight decrease in our energy bills. After hearing from our old company, “That’s the best we can do” Jesse did better. Zephyr Environmental Solutions also provides great maintenance. They have been there for us when a couple of minor issues arose. So glad we are with Zephyr!

Best HVAC experience so far in Charlottesville. I shopped around 10+ HVAC firms when my mini split system sprung a refrigerant leak and stopped heating in the dead of winter. The team was extremely insightful, transparent, and prioritized my call to get them to come out first thing in the morning. Unlike other firms, they gave me a 1 hour window (8-9 am) not 12-4, allowing me to plan my day far better. Kevin, our technician, was kind and quickly repaired our leak, checked for others, pressurized our system and left us set to make it through the winter unscathed. This company truly feels family owned and your money feels like it goes to the right place and not to some big corporation. Will be using Zephyr for all future needs. Their dispatch/diagnostic fee is on the lower end from what I've found, their turnaround time is fast, and the cost for their services is highly competitive.
