Wonderful team! Called to let me know they were on their way and came in on time! They were very friendly with our family dog and gave her lots of love. They were very knowledgeable and courteous. They showed me everything that was wrong and what we needed to do to fix it. They even made a video for my husband so he would have all the information when he got home from work. They were very upfront about the most cost effective solutions and even made some phone calls to see what parts were under warranty. They were also efficient and thorough in their examination of our system. I couldn’t be happier with the service and they will be our go to company for all our future HVAC needs.

I am so thankful for Zephyr. These are the most professional, prompt, and solid HVAC pros that I’ve ever worked with. I recently had a scary emergency and they were on the scene within hours to help figure out the issue and fix it. When the fix wasn’t as simple as expected, they stuck with it until the job was done (which took a whole extra day). They checked that everything was functioning before they left, cleaned up, and checked in with me afterwards several times to make that things are still working well (which they are). Can’t say enough good things about these guys. Showed up early, before I could get home from work and I found them already working to determine the problem. They focused on troubleshooting and determining the root cause, ensuring that what they did to fix the problem actually worked and taking the extra time to verify (which was needed in our case). Even talked me through additional possibilities as we consider some changes in the future. Attention to detail, professionalism, and ability to describe the problem and solution are probably the best I’ve ever experienced. Their patience with my litany of questions (based on my own interest) was also appreciated, I learned a bunch about air handling. My furnace shut off during a cold weekend a few weeks ago, and I called Zephyr, among other HVAC companies, in a panic. Jesse picked up, and I quickly learned that they did not service fuel oil furnaces like ours. However, he still walked me through some basic diagnostics that helped immensely, for no compensation. I cannot overstate how amazing this was, to reach someone who was willing to interrupt his time with his family to give advice to a stranger. I would recommend this company in a heartbeat, despite never having had them do any work for me. Truly excellent people, and I will be contacting them first for anything HVAC in the future.

I had a great experience working with James at Zephyr. I called about a fan that would not shut off and a system maintenance. James came the very next day. He did a great job sleuthing out the problem and finding a solution. I would definitely work with him again.

Zephyr is quite simply the best - after having multiple other local companies and contractors come in and waste our money by doing a bunch of work that did not solve our HVAC problems, we tried Zephyr and have been 100% loyal ever since. Not only have they been able to address some significant temperature differentials between rooms in our home, but they've been wonderful and responsive to timely issues in addition to maintenance. 100% recommend Jessie & his team.

Jesse came out to perform a load calculation on my finished attic that is not staying as cool as the rest of the house. From the first minute, it seemed as though Jesse was a trusted friend who was advising me instead of trying to sell me something. We looked at all parts of the HVAC system and he gave tips, tricks and advice along the way. He even gave helpful recommendations about other things he noticed in the home that aren't even part of the HVAC system. If you've ever watched This Old House, it might resonate with you when I say that Jesse is the local Charlottesville area's Richard Trethewey.

Company technicians were very knowledgeable of all systems and ensured we understood all options. They also installed portable AC units for the few days we were without air. The job was kept clean and free of debris. I highly recommend this company. You too will be impressed!

Had a great experience with the entire Zephyr team. I called on a Sunday evening...the team was available to come out Sunday or first thing Monday. The were on time, very professional and knowledgeable. Got the job done on the first trip to the house.

Responsive, friendly and helpful. When my AC quit working, I called Jesse at 6pm on a Friday. He called me back that evening and suggested some quick fixes that might take care of it. Unfortunately there turned out to be bigger problems with my AC system, so on Saturday he diagnosed the problem, determined there was a refrigerant leak, and refilled and sealed the leak. Jesse was prompt, professional, and explained everything to my wife as I was out of town for work. After having less than satisfying experiences with two larger companies in town, I am very happy to have found a good HVAC service company in Zephyr Environmental Solutions.

I had a recurring problem with an HVAC system at my short-term rental. The system was less than 5 years old, and the other HVAC companies I sent to troubleshoot the issue were never able to figure out the root cause, yet charged me exorbitant fees each visit. I paid over $3,000 to send other HVAC companies to the property 4 times within a 4 month span, and they never found or fixed the root issue, it just kept failing each time. I had to cancel bookings as result, a total money pit. I called Zephyr and spoke to Jesse, the owner. He sent one of his personally trained technicians who found the root issue and repaired the problem on the first visit. In a market where an owner/founder led HVAC business is becoming increasingly rare, I can't recommend Zephyr Environmental Solutions enough.

Jesse and his crew installed a new HVAC system for us 3 years ago. We had a 10 year old system that was really noisy in the winter, and was vented inefficiently throughout the house. Switching to Zephyr Environmental Systems from a larger chain of HVAC installers was the right decision - our new unit makes much less noise, has better air flow throughout both floors of the house, and gave us a slight decrease in our energy bills. After hearing from our old company, “That’s the best we can do” Jesse did better. Zephyr Environmental Solutions also provides great maintenance. They have been there for us when a couple of minor issues arose. So glad we are with Zephyr!

Best HVAC experience so far in Charlottesville. I shopped around 10+ HVAC firms when my mini split system sprung a refrigerant leak and stopped heating in the dead of winter. The team was extremely insightful, transparent, and prioritized my call to get them to come out first thing in the morning. Unlike other firms, they gave me a 1 hour window (8-9 am) not 12-4, allowing me to plan my day far better. Kevin, our technician, was kind and quickly repaired our leak, checked for others, pressurized our system and left us set to make it through the winter unscathed. This company truly feels family owned and your money feels like it goes to the right place and not to some big corporation. Will be using Zephyr for all future needs. Their dispatch/diagnostic fee is on the lower end from what I've found, their turnaround time is fast, and the cost for their services is highly competitive.

Jesse and the Zephyr team are the best. They're always responsive and thorough and you can count on them to resolve even difficult, non-standard problems. We first met Jesse when we had an issue with air infiltration and duct sweating. Multiple other companies didn't want to handle the problem but Jesse enthusiastically took it on. He identified several issues and helped us with air sealing and re-insulating our attic and with duct work insulation. Zephyr also handled replacing our HVAC unit several years ago and has helped us with regular maintenance since then. When the unit recently had a mechanical issue, Jesse's team took care of diagnosing and explaining the problem, all the warranty paperwork, and installing the new part. They went out of their way to make sure we were back up and running for the holidays and even followed up unprompted to verify everything was working correctly. You can't ask for better service than that and I'd recommend Zephyr for any HVAC problem, big or small.

TLDR: responsive, honest, knowledgeable and fair small business.  I'm not the type to write reviews but feel compelled to because Zephyr is the kind of company and Jesse is the kind of person you want to do business with. Zephyr was recommended to me by a friend when I needed a replacement unit installed in May 2021.  That was during the height of COVID supply chain issues but Jesse worked some magic and was able to give me a few options that were actually available.  He also provided an "R2D2" style portable a/c unit to keep us comfortable until the new RUUD unit was installed. Fast forward to December 2024 during an annual maintenance appointment.  I'd put a woodstove in my basement and wanted to put in a return in the basement so that I could circulate all that toasty warmth upstairs.  Jesse listened, understood my request, and delivered a solution so perfect it was better than I imagined. Shortly after he added that basement return I had an issue with the RUUD unit he had installed almost 4 years earlier.  The unit started putting out lukewarm air regardless of whether it was heat pump or back up heat mode.  Kevin and Evan from Zephyr were out 2 or 3 times in the January/February 2025 trying to troubleshoot the issue with minimal or no improvement.  The unit seemed to perform ok when cooling in the summer, but the heating issues appeared again in November.  The Zephyr team came out another 2-3 times and spent a lot of time sending data to RUUD and replacing parts.  Ultimately they were not able to figure out the issue and we chalked it up to that unit being a lemon.  The final solution was that Zephyr put in a brand new Moovair unit and only charged me their cost for the unit and installed it for free.  I think that is more than fair because at this point 1) the RUUD unit was already 4.5 years old so warranty coverage is suspect 2) they had DAYS  of unpaid time tied up in trying to troubleshoot the RUUD and installing the Moovair 3) ultimately I got a new, more efficient, better performing, and quieter unit for a fraction of what a new one would cost.  No matter how I calculate price of the expected life (4.5 years for the RUUD and assume 10-15+ for the Moovair) I feel like I'm coming out ahead.  Did I want to pay several thousand dollars for a new unit or did Zephyr want to have a lot of unpaid labor time?  Of course not.  But ultimately Jesse stood behind his work and offered me a fair solution. Another important thing to me is that Jesse knows HVAC.  Seemingly endless knowledge and obvious expertise.  I'm the most avid DIY'er you'll ever meet so it's tough for me to trust someone else to work on my house or cars.  I want to deal with experts.  He's always willing to talk through the problem, explain it, offer opinions, etc, and that gives me confidence in his work.

Our AC stopped working recently and Zephyr was able to fit us in the day we called, handled the process of obtaining the part through our warranty, and we're able to get it installed quickly after it arrived. They were dependable, very transparent, and kept us updated on the process. Overall, it was a great experience. Thank you!

Great service and knowledgeable technicians. Very responsive. I had Jesse out for a service call today after a storm and not only did he fix the problem, he tested performance afterwards with thorough diagnostics and kept me informed all the way. An honest company that cares about their customers. We have someone in the house with health challenges and Zephyr always accommodates as soon as they can. I recommend this company 100%.
