Job completed for Steve D.

Completion date: December 13, 2017

Location: Charlottesville, VA

Why did the customer contact us?

While at the customers house for maintenance he asked if we worked on Tankless Hot Water system. He had one installed recently and wondered if we would verify it was set up correctly.

Further inspection found the condensate pump and line not installed very well. Recommended correcting these to allow proper drainage and prevent premature clogs, and equipment shut down.

System was installed with no Acid Neutralizer on the condensate drain. This is required by code when dumping into a municipal sewer line, as the water produced during combustion from a condensing gas fired appliance is acidic. Customer was on a septic system, as it is not required, it is highly recommended as the Acid can upset the balance of microbes in the septic tank.

Customer approved for us to remedy the issues and install a neutralizer.

Solutions provided:

We installed the condensate pump on the floor along with an acid neutralizer before the condensate pump. Pulled all the slack out of the plastic line running from the pump to the drain across the basement and secured with more clamps. verified installer set up for the customers Tankless Hot Water system.
